Wine Maker's Notes
The richness and youth of this elegant wine is apparent in its deep, opaque ruby color. Restrained oak and intense blueberry, black cherry and mint characters dominate the aromas; on the juicy palate, rich layers of vibrant black cherry and plush blackberry fruit come to the fore. Oak stays in the background as a supporting player, adding complexity to the wine but allowing its classic Alexander Valley character to shine, in which rich, juicy fruit and structured, fine-grained tannins harmonize in a balanced duet. The lively finish carries the wine’s balance through to a lingering conclusion. Overall, balance, elegance and harmony are the hallmarks of this wine. Approachable now, the wine will improve in bottle for the next five to eight years.
